Chinese Sinseh
|

I was with my granny at the Chinese sinseh yesterday. One thing about old timers and Chinese traditional medicine is that they click! The older generation chose to visit the sinseh instead of a gp because they fear of having too many needles being poked into them. All they have to do is tell the Chinese sinseh about their pains or aches and he/she will check your pulse.
Upon doing that, he/she will ask them questions in relation to their complaints before prescribing medicine for their health. Usually the Chinese sinseh will encourage their patients to herbal concoction for general ailments and it is to be taken orally. The herbs usually contain ginseng, ginger, red dates etc, thus the taste can be a tint of sweetness and bitterness.
I personally love taking these aromatic herbal concoction because it is believed to increase one's sense of well-being. I think having a Chinese breed in me is something I am proud of. I'm not convinced by Indonesian Jamu having tried a few for a long run but I so believe in Chinese traditional medicine!
